Valley Stream Lodge No. 1143 Free and Accepted Masons

Who are the Freemasons?

Although Freemasonry has been around for more than three hundred years, making it the oldest and largest fraternity in the world, many people aren't aware of just who Masons are.

Freemasons are members of the world's oldest fraternity. They are men who believe in a supreme being, and who want to improve their character as well as their lives through Freemasonry. They care about securing the future for the good of mankind, and in preserving the past for the same reason. A Mason a man of good character, who believes in honor, charity, and making the world a better place for everyone to live in. Simply put, Freemasonry makes good men better.

Freemasons come from all different backgrounds. Political stance, social status, education, and occupation are discarded within a Masonic Lodge. All members of the fraternity meet as equals. Even religion holds no bearing in a Masonic Lodge, with the beleif in a supreme being being the only exception. Freemasons can be found all across the globe, and each of them is always willing to welcome a fellow Mason if he should meet one.
